Summary of the Accident

A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on Saturday night in Austin. At approximately 11:22 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the crash in the 7200 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found an SUV flipped upside-down with one person inside having been ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. This incident marks Austin’s 13th fatal crash of 2023 resulting in 13 fatalities for the year. At this time last year, there had been 11 fatal crashes resulting in 12 deaths. These statements are from APD’s initial assessment of this fatal crash and their investigation is still ongoing. Fatality information may change as more details emerge. Note: The APD is now appealing for any information about this crash. Anyone with information should contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
