Austin Police Department Seeks Community Help in Identifying Reckless Driving Suspects
Austin, Texas – The Austin Police Department (APD) is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying suspects and vehicles involved in citywide reckless driving incidents that occurred on February 18, 2023. These “Street Takeover” incidents have put the safety of Austin community members at risk. The APD has also released several images of the vehicles and persons involved to assist in the search.
In response to these concerns, APD collaborated with the Texas Department of Public Safety to address illegal activity and protect the community from further dangerous behavior. The APD Organized Crime Division is working with local and state law enforcement partners to investigate criminal offenses including Aggravated Assault Against a Peace Officer, Deadly Conduct, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving Exhibition, Obstructing a Highway or Other Passageway, and Use of Laser Pointers.
Some suspects have already been identified during the investigation and arrest warrants are being sought. However, APD greatly appreciates and depends on public assistance. If you have any information regarding these criminal acts, please contact APD at 512-974-TIPS or submit your tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.
