Summary of the Accident
A fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday morning in Austin involving a sedan, a pickup truck, and a van. At approximately 7:36 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the crash at the intersection of East Anderson Lane and Cameron Road.
Despite medical interventions, a passenger in the sedan, Aciel Fernandez, passed away on the scene. Two other passengers in the same sedan were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. All drivers remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
This incident marks Austin’s 14th fatal crash of 2023 resulting in 14 fatalities for the year. At this time last year, there had been 12 fatal crashes resulting in 13 deaths. These statements are from APD’s initial assessment of this fatal crash and their investigation is still ongoing. Fatality information may change as more details emerge.
