According to the Austin Police Department (APD), on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at around 1:36 a.m., there was a single vehicle collision on the 3300 block of South Mopac Expy Southbound. One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The five other passengers of the SUV were transported to local hospitals for their injuries. The driver of the SUV was arrested for DUI-related charges. This is the 40th traffic-related fatality in Austin for 2025.
