According to the Austin Police Department (APD), on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at around 11:44 p.m., there was a collision between a bicycle and a vehicle on the 4100 block of South Congress Avenue. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Medical personnel arrived on the scene and transported the bicyclist to a local hospital. On June 9, 2025, the bicyclist succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. This is the 42nd traffic-related fatality in Austin for 2025.
